Ansonia Police Release Sketch Of Homicide ‘Person Of Interest’

The Ansonia Police Department has released this sketch of a person of interest” in the July 15 murder of Bernice McFadden.

Police said Tuesday they were trying to locate the man, who is described as black, 5’10” with a stocky muscular build and large dark amber brown eyes. The man was last seen wearing a white T‑Shirt, jeans and a blue Atlanta Braves baseball hat.

Police have linked an older model Buick with tinted windows to the man and ask anyone with information to contact the department at (203) 735‑1885 or (203) 736‑2140. Police said they would keep callers’ identification confidential.

Just after midnight on July 15, a man entered a courtyard in the complex and opened fire at a group of people standing outside. McFadden, 39, was the only person killed. The shooting came just weeks after a woman was stabbed to death on a balcony at the apartment complex.

Police made an arrest shortly after the stabbing, but were left searching for a suspect in the July 15 shooting.

In a prepared statement, police referred all calls to the office of Ansonia Police Chief Kevin Hale.

However, at 3:30 p.m., a dispatcher answering the phone said Hale had left for the day.
