Victim’s Family: Please Help Us Find Shooter

Family members of Isaia Hernandez handed out fliers Thursday with his picture and a plea: Please help us find his killers.

Hernandez’s aunts and cousins gathered at the Ansonia gas station where he was shot and killed on March 16 to ask the community for help catching the shooters. They spoke to the press and to people pumping gas at the Xtra Mart Gas Station on Wakelee Avenue, hoping to spread the word about the crime.

Hernandez, 25, of Jackson Street in Ansonia, was shot while sitting in his girlfriend’s car. He was shot by people who were sitting in the car with him.

Margaret Rivera, the victim’s aunt, said the family has no idea who the men are or why they were in the car with Hernandez. She said Hernandez had just dropped of his 2‑year-old son at a babysitters house.

We have no idea at this point,” Rivera said about the shooting. And we won’t know until someone comes forward.”

Hernandez stumbled out of the car and collapsed at the gas pumps. The two men in the car ran the opposite direction, down Church Street.

Hernandez’s family hopes additional information from Ansonia residents will help police in their investigation.

Basically we’re pleading at this point for someone to come forward,” Rivera said.

She said the family is not frustrated with the police investigation — the family is just seeking additional information that can help the police do their job.
