Scrap metal thieves struck for the third time in recent weeks in Oxford over the weekend, this time stealing seven batteries and 14 aluminum posts with a total approximate value of $18,000 from a company in the industrial park off Christian Street.
The materials were reported missing on Saturday (Sept. 24). They were taken sometime between Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m.
The company, Alex Horse Transportation LLC, based in Southbury, reported the items were taken from four trailers parked in the Christian Street area.
The investigation is ongoing.
Daniel Semosky, Resident State Trooper supervisor, said police are checking with scrap yards in the region.
