Beatrice I. (Bassi) Coppola, age 90, entered eternal rest on October 11, 2024 at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour.
She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore J. Coppola. Beatrice was born in Derby on July 13, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph and Felicia Paganini Bassi. She was a resident of Seymour since 1955. For many years, Beatrice was employed as a Teacher’s Aide/Office Aide for the Seymour Board of Education.
She later worked as a receptionist for Paul J. Mariano and Associates in both the Naugatuck and later Southbury offices, until her retirement. Beatrice was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. She served as an Extraordinary Minister, a member of the choir and the Rosary Guild and volunteered for the Italian Festival, spending several years as co-chairman of the event. Beatrice liked to play cards with friends, knit and sew. She especially loved to do counted cross stitch and make Christmas stockings for her family and friends.
She was also the family tuna sauce maker and bread baker for Good Friday and Christmas Eve dinners, giving so many loved ones cherished memories of those holidays.
Beatrice’s most cherished times were spent with her family and she will be deeply missed. Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Linda R. Mariano (Paul) of Southbury and Janice A. Coppola (James Zelem) of Verona, WI, granddaughter, Gina Mariano-Waldorf (Jereme Gosselin) of Naugatuck, great-grandson, Samuel “Sam” Waldorf, brother-in-law, Eugene Coppola (Addie) of Seymour, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph, and Harold Bassi. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 9:00 – 10:00 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral will then process to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
