Charles Marrone Sr., age 86, of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Theresa V. (Kalson) Marrone, entered eternal rest at his home on November 24, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born at home in Ansonia on December 20, 1937, Charlie was the son of the late Gaetano and Antonina (Palumbo) Marrone.
A lifelong resident of Ansonia, Charlie began his career at the age of 16 as a mason with Charles Migani & Sons Masonry Contractors. Later, he proudly owned and operated Charles Marrone & Son Remodeling alongside his son for 39 years, continuing his work until his passing. A proud veteran, Charlie honorably served his country in the United States Army. Charlie was a devoted and loving grandfather, always cheering the loudest at his grandchildren’s events and activities.
A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN women’s basketball, Charlie also gave back to his community. He served as an alderman on the Board of Aldermen and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the First Congregational Church of Ansonia.
Charlie is survived by his loving daughter, Theresa H. Godfrey (Peter Perri) of Ansonia, and his devoted son, Charles Marrone Jr. of Ansonia. He also leaves behind his brother, Anthony Marrone of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Kimberleigh Higgins-Valovich (Michael Valovich) of Trumbull, Andrew Godfrey (Sophia Russell) of NY, and Jennifer Godfrey (Brent Alcantara) of NY; and his adored great-granddaughter, Chloe Higgins-Valovich of Trumbull.
He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by his sister, Marie Botti, and an infant granddaughter, Carly. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his loving niece, Barbara Ford (Thomas Palmieri), for her devotion and care throughout Charlie’s illness.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, beginning at 9:15 AM at the funeral home, followed by a service at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Ansonia.
