Dominic J. Polis, 75, a retired mortgage operations manager for Anchor Mortgage Company passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Gina M. (Igliozzi) Polis for 27 years.
Born in Derby, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Vincent J. and Grace A. (LaRocco) Polis. Dominic was the loving father of James Polis (Sue), Jeffrey J. Polis (Carrie), Erica L. Polis (Rebekah) and Danika L. Lataille; loving grandpa to Jeffrey, Madden, Mia, Maxwell and Sydney.
Dominic was a Veteran in the US Navy from 1968 – 1971 where he served on the USS Springfield. He was a volunteer fireman and also served on the board for Sandie McGee Igliozzi Golf Committee. He had a passion for coaching basketball for the Special Olympics. He loved his NY sports teams, especially the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Dominic also enjoyed watching the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams. He attended the University of New Haven with a degree in public administration. He was also a member of the Norwood Athletic Club and the Crystal Lake Golf Club.
His visitation will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 10 – 11am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., West Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to the American Heart Association, 1 State St., Suite 200, Providence, RI 02908 will be appreciated.
