Edward R. Sroka

Edward R. Sroka, 71, a lifelong resident of Derby, entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2015, at the West Haven V.A.

Mr. Sroka was born in Derby on Dec. 11, 1943, beloved son of Cecelia Dugolecki Sroka of Derby and the late John J. Sroka. He was employed as a mechanical and electronics technician at Sikorsky Aircraft until his retirement. A proud veteran, he honorably served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era and received the Air Force Commendation Medal of Merit. Ed was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and country music.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, James Sroka of Branford, a daughter, Kristina Sroka of Branford, loving brother, John S. Sroka (Charlotte) of Hamden, loving sisters, Cecelia J. Krohelski (Leonard) of Seymour and Regina L. Gibson of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2015, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will then process to St. Michael’s Church in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment with U.S. Air Force military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
