Esther S. Brainard, age 96, of Wallingford entered into rest on Friday Dec. 6, 2024 in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Frederick Brainard.
She was born in Bridgeport on April 12, 1928 daughter of the late Howard and Jessie Clark Smith and was a resident of Monroe most of her life before moving to Northport, FL in the 1980’s. Esther was employed in the cafeteria at Fawn Hollow Elementary School in Monroe for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughter of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Brainard (Dave Krane), William Brainard (Eleanor) and one daughter Virginia Elwood (John), five grandchildren Chris Elwood (Lilly), Kelly Ann Gerson (James Brunken), Kelly Cotto (Joe), Eric Brainard (Sarah), Rebecca Coppola (Dave), 11 great grandchildren, one sister Lynn Mashia and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Brainard, one son Gary Brainard, one brother Joseph McNamara two sisters Christine Brainard and Susan Roland, sister in law Carol McNamara, two brother in laws Hughie Mashia and Cliff Roland.
Friends may greet her family on Sunday Dec 15, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Her funeral service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home.
