Frank J. Romano, 72, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Derby on March 25, 1952, he was the son of the late Francis J. Romano and Pauline (Imperato) Romano Conti, as well as his step-father, Edward Conti. Frank was a lifelong resident of the Valley and a graduate of Derby High School. He went on to attend the University of Maryland, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and proudly played football for the Terrapins.
Frank returned to the Valley not long after college graduation and worked alongside his family in various restaurant ventures over the years. Frank became the owner and operator of Frankie’s Grill in 2001, a place where he and his family formed lifelong friendships. Known for his warm, social nature, Frank cherished laughter and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mark and Mary Grace Sobel for giving Frank the gift of life in 2011 through the kidney donation of their late son, Mark Sobel, Jr. This gift bonded both families for a lifetime.
Frank is survived by his beloved daughters, Julia Soda and her husband Tom, and Victoria Romano; his cherished grandchildren, Jake and Talia Soda; his brother, Paul Romano and his wife Lisa; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Romano and Paula Romano. He also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Frankie.
