George H. Meyer, age 86, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Crosby Commons, with his son and daughter at his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years of the late Joan Catherine (Oliver) Meyer.
George was born in Bridgeport on January 28, 1938, son of the late George H. and Helen (Sliney) Meyer. He lived in Shelton since 1962, and was a snowbird to Hudson, FL for approximately 20 years.
George worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft for a total of 32 years in Rotor Head, Flight Test, and Purchasing Departments. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1997. He also worked part time as a Real Estate Agent and then later on as a Car Salesman for D’Addario in Shelton.
George loved the Florida sunshine and golfing with his grandchildren, son-in-law and friends. He was a “car guy”, and enjoyed car shows and Corvettes. He also enjoyed playing billiards at the Shelton Senior Center and going out for a good meal. Most of all, he loved and cherished his family and friends.
He is the beloved father of Lisa (Meyer) Cross, Greg Meyer and his wife Diane, and Kim (Meyer) LaBonte and her husband Raymond, proud grandfather of Christopher LaBonte and Danielle, Steven Ketz, Jeffrey LaBonte and Samantha, Jessica (Meyer) Pimental and Brett, Cori (Meyer) Pidskalny and Robert, and Melissa (LaBonte) D’Agnone and Matthew, and great-grandfather of Jayden, Mackenzie, Brayden, Luke, Brooks, Cole, Leo, and Joey.
The family extends their appreciation to Tamy for her caring assistance these past years, as well as the staff at Crosby Commons.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, January 3, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. His funeral service will begin in the parlor at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Peters Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
