George H. Tanner

George H. Tanner, age 78 of Waterbury formerly of Virginia, he entered in to peaceful rest at his home with his beloved wife Dawn (Perry) Tanner of 41 years by his side. George was born September 25, 1946 in Derby, son of the late George and Marjorie (Egan) Tanner. 

He was a retired AMF Bowling Lanes Technician, and he also previously worked as an Automotive Mechanic and Carpenter. Mr. Tanner was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the 11th Calvary. George was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and was a member of the Retreads Motorcycle Club; he also was an excellent bowler having scored numerous 300 perfect games. He enjoyed building model ships, planes, and cars. George also like computer gaming, and in his younger days he competed in Drag Racing.

In addition to his wife Dawn, George leaves his son, Perry Frederick Tanner; daughters, Melissa Tanner, Marty Tanner, and Brandi Rose Clemons in Florida; his sister, Susan Belletti with whom he was especially close with having spoken together every day; his grandchildren, Ariana Tanner and Kendi Jane Atwood; also nieces and nephews, Marie Pelaccia, Theresa Lamoureux, Sonya Giovacchino, Jennifer Carew, Joseph Belletti, Sandra Rudic, Christine Corradino, Tammy Janiszewski, Helene Gibson, Denise Donnelly, Lesley Harris, Tara Smith, and Tyrone Harris. He was predeceased by a nephew Mark Janiszewski and his in-laws Harold and Betty R. Perry. As fate would have it George’s sister Beverly Mikolash who was residing in Florida also passed on the very same day.

Calling Hours will be Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a Funeral Service in celebration of George’s life starting at 6:30 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
