Harold “Gene” Corbin, age 91 of Seymour, he entered into peaceful rest on November 23, 2024 at his home with his devoted family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Marie “Josie” (Vaas) Corbin.
Gene was the retired owner of Corbin Carpets Company which he did from 1969 to 2016. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion.
Mr. Corbin attended the Great Hill United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed at S.C.M. Corporation.
Gene served the community as a Volunteer Firefighter at the Great Hill Hose Company, and he loved competing with their Muster Team.
Gene was a dog lover, and he enjoyed travel with his wife Josie. He was also a die-hard NASCAR fan and especially followed Dale Earnhardt.
Mr. Corbin leaves his loving daughter Gina Ovesny and her husband Alan of Shelton, and his son, Gregory Corbin of Seymour; his grandchildren, A.J. Ovesny and his wife Tiffany of Shelton, and Jacob and Joshua Corbin; also his great grandson, Alan Ovesny III of Shelton. Gene’s brother Kelvin, and sisters, Caroline Marino, Mildred Woodford, and Freida Lavine predeceased him.
Calling Hours will be Saturday December 7th from 8:30 Am to 10:30 AM, with a Funeral Service in celebration of Gene’s life beginning at 10:30 AM the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Mountain Meadows Cemetery.
