John Michael Pawlyk, age 77, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of 43 years of the late Dianne (Dagostine) Pawlyk. John was born in Derby on October 25, 1947, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Filek) Pawlyk, and he lived most of his life in Shelton.
He worked for United Illuminating for over 25 years before his retirement. John enjoyed golf and gardening. He was a longtime and loyal Dallas Cowboys and NY Mets fan and he enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards as well as rare coins. John also enjoyed taking trips to Mohegan Sun. He loved a good meal, especially pizza and meatballs. John was known for his Fourth of July fireworks display.
He is the beloved father of Dr. Aaron C. Pawlyk and his wife Shyrie Edmonson and Rachel Helen Pawlyk and her husband Jay Marlin. He is also survived by his girlfriend Nancy Goodwin, his brother Donald Pawlyk, sister-in-law RuthAnn Pawlyk, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jordan Elizabeth Schofield, and by a brother, David Pawlyk.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. On Saturday guests are invited directly to a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Shelton at 10 AM. His entombment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
