John Peter Chrzanowski, Jr., age 77 of Derby, beloved husband of 48 years to the late Jean F. Kudrak Chrzanowski, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 19, 2024.
Born in Derby on March 15, 1947, he was the son of the late John Peter and Eleanor Warrion Chrzanowski, Sr. Mr. Chrzanowski was a lifelong Valley resident and a 1965 graduate of Pine High School.
He was a proud US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the National defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his military service, Mr. Chrzanowski returned to the Valley and worked as an ASE certified master mechanic and skilled diagnostic technician for the former Cherney Pontiac and Cavallaro Dodge Auto Dealerships for over 50 years, until the time of his retirement in 2008.
Cars were his passion, and he used mechanical talents to fix anything, for anybody, anytime. He enjoyed family camping trips and Caribbean cruises, as well as tinkering on projects around his home, was an avid fisherman in earlier years and watching football and NASCAR in what little spare time he allowed himself.
Mr. Chrzanowski found a new identity as a grandfather and shared a special and close bond with his granddaughters.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Jon Chrzanowski and his wife, Jodi, of Ansonia and Justin Chrzanowski of South Dakota; a sister, Carol Clark of Seymour and his cherished granddaughters, Senia and Natalee Chrzanowski of Ansonia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Memorial services will take place at 6:30 PM.
