Joseph J. Stasik, Jr. of Seymour, CT, beloved husband and father, peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 14, 2025. He was 94 years old, just 9 days shy of his 95th birthday.
He was born on March 23, 1930, in Wilkes Barre, PA and was the son of the late Joseph J. Stasik, Sr. and Catherine Mondulick Stasik of Plains, PA.
Joseph is survived by his loving and cherished wife of 66 years, Ruth S. Stasik of Seymour, CT. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas J. Stasik of Plains, PA, his son, Joseph J. Stasik, III and his wife, Tricia, of Naugatuck, CT, and his daughter, Karen Stasik of Oxford, CT.
He was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Alusik, of Bethlehem, PA. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Joseph, Hailey, Brianna and Brendan and several nieces and nephews.
Upon graduating from Plains High School, Joseph entered into the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for four years on the U.S.S. Currituck and U.S.S. Maury during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Navy and having gained extensive knowledge as a diesel mechanic, he worked at Kaiser Aircraft as a mechanic for several years before landing a job at Sikorsky Aircraft.
During his time at Sikorsky, he held several positions, one of which was the Quality Inspector for the Presidential helicopters. He finally retired in 1992 after thirty-five years holding the position of Foreman.
He was a devout communicant of the Church of the Assumption, an active member of the Emil Senger American Legion, Post No.10 in Seymour and was a member of the Honor Guard Firing Squad and the Bicentennial Flag Team. Furthermore, he was an accomplished pilot, holding both private and commercial licenses and was a member of the Mercury Flying Club.
He also loved to hunt and fish (was a member of the Great Hill Fish and Game Club), build and fly radio control model airplanes and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved watching the Yankees and UConn Men and Women’s basketball teams, where he used to attend games with his wife and close friends. His kindness, his thoughtfulness, his willingness to always lend a hand, and his love will always be remembered by those close to him and will never be forgotten.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Miller-Macari Family Funeral Home located at 260 Bank Street, Seymour, CT 06483. A funeral mass will then proceed at the Church of the Assumption, 61 N Cliff St, Ansonia, CT 06401 at 12 noon. Burial will immediately follow with Military Honors at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, 117 Mountain Road, Seymour, СТ 06483.
