Joseph J. Ungrady

Joseph J. Ungrady, age 86, of Shelton peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Friday November 1, 2024 at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Grace (Pisano) Ungrady. He was born in Bridgeport on March 10, 1938 the son of the late John and Anna (Miklos) Ungrady.

Joe was a proud Veteran who served in the US Air Force. After his time in the service he went on to work as a tool maker for Remington Arms for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, serving as an Usher for 15 years as well being part of their Men’s Club. He also was a member of St. Vincent De Paul and the Knights of Columbus. Joe had a black belt in the art of Judo, and also enjoyed archery, weight lifting and gardening in his spare time. Most of all he cherished traveling and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife Grace, Joe is survived by his children Joseph Ungrady and his wife Melissa, Deana Ryff and her husband Steve, and Douglas Ungrady, his grandchildren Benjamin, Sophia, Jonathan, Brittney and Madison, his great grandson Braden, his sister Veronica Fraoni and his brother John Ungrady and his wife Barbara, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Michael Ungrady, Ann Dutko and Mary Urich.

On Monday friends may greet Joe’s family from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. On Tuesday everyone is invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Pl. Shelton, at 10 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial. His burial with full Military Honors will follow at Lawn Cemetery South, Shelton.
