Joseph R. Warichar

Joseph R. Warichar, age 89 of Derby, died November 20, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. 

Born in Derby on May 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline Meszaros Warichar. 

Mr. Warichar was a lifelong Derby resident and a 1952 graduate of Derby High School. Due to the premature death of his father, Mr. Warichar withdrew from the University of Connecticut to find employment and support his family. He worked as a tool & die maker for the Bridgeport Metal Goods Manufacturing Company for over 40 years, until the time of his retirement in 2000. 

Mr. Warichar took pride in maintaining his home, often staying busy with do-it-yourself projects. He loved the arts & theater as well as being an avid sports fan. A true philanthropist, Mr. Warichar actively sought to promote the welfare of others throughout the Valley Community by contributing his time and resources to all those in need. 

He is survived by his devoted brother, Donald E. Warichar of Southbury; a sister, Joyce Conrad of AR; nephews, George Norell of Newington, Connecticut, Mark Conrad of IL and Will Conrad of AR. He was predeceased by a sister, Paula Norell. 

Private interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Warichar Family Fund through the Valley Community Foundation, 253‑A Elizabeth Street, Derby, CT 06418.
