Kathryn S. Otto, age 90 of Cheshire, beloved wife of the late Curt M. Otto, died peacefully on October 26, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Derby on May 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Akim and Martha Sikora Segenchuk. Raised in Ansonia, Mrs. Otto was a graduate of Ansonia High School and St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, Bridgeport, where she earned her RN designation.
She was a Registered Nurse employed at the West Haven Veterans Administration Medical Center for 31 years. Retiring from the WHVAMC, she then worked in geriatric and rehabilitation care within skilled nursing facilities in the greater New Haven area, finally retiring in 2006.
Together with her family, Mrs. Otto was active in the Antique Motor Club of Hershey, PA, where they attended car shows and rallies. She loved all animals, was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia and will be long remembered for her special love & bond shared with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted son, Curt J. Otto and her daughter-in-law, Janine L. Otto of Cheshire, CT; Her Step-daughters, Carol Cyr (David) of New Haven, CT, Debra Forster (Robert) of Bokeelia, FL; sister in-law, Carolyn Otto Murhamer of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Sienna Otto and Shayla Otto of Cheshire; Robert Forster (Joanne) of Oakdale, CT, Nicholas Forster (Kimberly) of Ft Myers FL; Kathrine Gould (Eric) of Poestenkill, NY; Carolyn Levy (Eli) of Woodbridge, CT, Samantha D’Errico of New Haven, CT, Gabrielle D’Errico of Boston, MA, Julia Cyr of New Haven, CT; and 6 Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 29 years, she was predeceased by sisters, Helen Forster, Ann Brangaccio; brother, Peter Segenchuk; and nephews, Butch Brangaccio, George Forster, and Jimmy Brangaccio.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Iren Dziekan and Karen Anderson for their compassionate care and extended to Kathryn in her time of need.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, meeting directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia at 10:00 AM.
