M. Richard Ostaszeski

SEYMOUR — M. Richard Ostaszeski, age 97 of Seymour, beloved husband of the late Mary (Morris) Ostaszeski, entered peaceful rest on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in CT Hospice of Branford surrounded by family. Born in Union City, CT, on December 26, 1926, he was a son of the late Michael and Stella (Kolakowski) Ostaszeski.

A lifelong resident of Seymour, Richard attended the Seymour school system, Cheshire Academy, and graduated from Quinnipiac University with a degree in Business Administration. He was very active in the town of Seymour, serving on many boards such as, the Board of Selectman, Board of Police Commissioners, Board of Finance, Board of Public Works, and several School Board Committees. 

A proud US Naval Air Force veteran of WWII, Richard served in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Ansonia and was a member of many local communities like the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 10, Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the Police Commissioner Assoc. of CT. Richard took great pride in being part owner of his family business, ELMAC, Inc., which manufactured electronic components and automotive machining.

Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Jane Ostaszeski, and Linda Pol and her husband Ken; adored granddaughters, Heather Friedman and her husband Andrew, and Corie Pol; and his cherished great granddaughter, Bailey; brother-in-law, George Morris as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great great nephew. In addition to his parents, and beloved wife of 60 years, Mary, he was predeceased by his loving daughter, Mary Anne Ostaszeski and brothers, Stanley and Henry Ostaszeski.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, CT 06483. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 25, 2024 starting at 10:30 am from the funeral home and at 11:30am in Saint Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Street, Ansonia.
