Michael H. Kraemer

Michael H. Kraemer, age 67 of Oxford, beloved life partner of Diane Ploch, entered peaceful rest on Friday, November 1, 2024 in Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, with family by his side. Born in Waterbury on February 22, 1957, he was the son of Lois (Krause) Horky of Waterbury, and the late Hans L. Kraemer.

A 1975 graduate of Seymour High School, Michael attained an Associate’s Degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College. Having worked various jobs at Ideal Manufacturing, CT Test Boring and Firestone, Michael found some of his most rewarding work as an environmental field technician for Terracon.

In his younger years, he enjoyed camping with his family as well as being a Boy Scout and Babe Ruth Coach. He later enjoyed playing and watching men’s softball and was a Yankees fan.

Michael’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends — from hosting Oktoberfest parties and planning the family picnic to attending lawn concerts, celebrating holidays and sharing good food, drink and conversation. He kept his mind sharp with crossword and sudoko puzzles, a wide array of television and a lively argument or debate with anyone he could engage! He lived life to the fullest, whether it was vacationing in Florida, relaxing with a fire on the patio or cooking up a specialty in the kitchen.

Michael leaves his mother, Lois; life partner Diane; aunt Eileen Martin; niece Emma Kraemer; nephew Ryan Kraemer; numerous Piel and Kraemer cousins; stepsister Evelyn Judge; stepbrother Chris Horky; and many dear and longtime friends. Among those who predeceased him are his father, Hans; brother Paul; stepfather Peter Horky; godfather Carl Piel; cousins Fred Kraemer and Doris Hollenstein; and former wife Kathleen.

Special thanks to Dr. Marc Ciampi and the caregivers at Davita Dialysis, Highland Ave.

Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (3000 Whitney Ave #121, Hamden, CT 06518), Tunnel to Towers (2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306) or the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank (20 Pine St, Seymour, CT 06483).
