Robert “Bob” Francis Bednarcik

Robert Bob” Francis Bednarcik (affectionally referred to as pa), age 86, beloved husband of Nancy Larson Bednarcik of Jensen Beach, FL and Beacon Falls, CT (formerly of Oxford, CT), passed away peacefully on April 23, 2022 at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL with his family by his side. Born in Derby on December 2, 1935, he was the son of late Joseph and Rose Symbolic Bednarcik.

Bob was raised in Shelton, a graduate of Shelton High School, and a longtime Valley resident. He was a proud U.S. Veteran of the Army Reserves and was employed as an Electrical Designer at Sikorsky for 41 years until he retired in 1997. Bob was a member of BSA (Boy Scouts of America) Troop 3 Derby and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1953 under the direction of Scoutmaster Ed Strang. He was a lifelong advocate of scouting and remained active in Troop 3 as a Committee Member. Bob served the town of Oxford as an EMT, as a member of the Oxford Center Fire Department, and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Gregg Bednarcik and his wife Julianne of Fort Myers Beach, FL; Lori Bednarcik of Seymour; his cherished grandson, Terrance Brown of Seymour; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Gregory Bednarcik.

A Memorial Mass, meeting directly at the church, will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
