Ruth G. McCaffrey, age 82, of Beacon Falls, the beloved wife of Howard McCaffrey, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 14, 1942, the loving daughter of the late Clifford Van Velsor and Mabel Botting McCormac. Ruth graduated from Mineola High School in 1960, she then went to Berkeley Secretarial School in 1962. Upon graduation she worked for Sperry Gyroscope in Lake Success, NY in the secretarial field.
Later in life she worked for the New Milford Public School System as a paraprofessional. Ruth was an avid homemaker taking great pride in her home the raising of her beloved children, and then her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Oxford, Ct. where she was a lay minister. Ruth will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts.
In addition to her beloved husband Howard, Ruth’s loving family includes her loving children daughter Debra Anderson and son Kevin McCaffrey and his wife Kelly, her four cherished grandchildren Sarah, Megan, Ben and Justin. She is also survived by three caring nieces Gretchen, Beth and Kate.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her stepfather Christopher T. McCormac and her brother William Van Velsor.
A memorial service in celebration of Ruth’s life will be held in the spring at a time and date to be announced.
