Ansonia Officials To Be Sworn In Dec. 1

FILEAnsonia Mayor James Della Volpe will be sworn in for his seventh term, along with other elected city officials, at a ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 1. 

The swearing in ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at Ansonia City Hall in the aldermanic chambers on the second floor. 

Refreshments immediately following at Millie’s II, at 242 Main Street in Ansonia.

Ansonia GOP, Once Nonexistent, Takes Four Aldermen Seats

Update: The unofficial results from the Ansonia registrar’s office have been added to the end of this story.

Ansonia Republicans picked up four seats on the Board of Aldermen in Tuesday’s election. 

Republicans Philip Tripp and Charles Stowe took both seats in the Second Ward, Joan Radin took one seat in the Fifth Ward, and John P. Marini took one seat in the Seventh. 

Democrats continue to hold the vast majority of seats on the Board of Aldermen, with 10 Democrats elected to the board Tuesday. Mayor James T. Della Volpe, a Democrat, also won re-election in an uncontested race.

Ansonia Republicans To Host Election Planning Meetings

The Ansonia Republican Town Committee invites all members and registered Republican voters of Ansonia to join them on Thursday, July 14 for an Elections Candidate meeting. 

The meeting will be held at 7 PM at John J. Sullivan’s for the purpose of discussing the upcoming November 2011 city election ballot.
