Omar DeJesus Garin, age 55, of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Friday July 25, 2025 in his home. He was the beloved husband of 32 years to Andrea (Morales) Garin. He was born in Manhattan on January 14, 1970 the son of the late Cantalicio and Martha (Clotter) Garin.
Chino, as he was affectionately known, was a devoted groundskeeper and maintenance man—a true jack of all trades. In 2017, he and his family relocated from Long Island, NY, and made Shelton their home. He found joy in exploring new places, crafting meals with love and intention, and cherishing time with those he loved most. Music was the ever-present soundtrack of his life; there was rarely a moment at home without it filling the air. Chino also had a deep love for literature, often immersing himself in the written word. Family was at the heart of who he was. He shared a lifelong bond with his siblings and held his nieces and nephews close to his heart, finding pride and joy in each of them. Above all, his life was a reflection of his spirit—steadfast, humble, and defined by the unwavering love he had for his children.
Besides his wife, Omar is survived by his children Mathew Garin (Kimberly Garcia) and Nethania Garin, 8 siblings and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to gather and greet the family on Monday August 4 from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. His funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Online condolences can be offered to the family at www.riverviewfh.com.
