ANSONIA — Residents and animal lovers are invited to bring their beloved pets to Christ Church on Sunday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. for a unique, heartwarming tradition that honors the special relationship between humans and animals.

Christ Church is delighted to announce its Blessing of the Animals service, a cherished event for pet owners, families, and friends throughout the region. Scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12 during the 10:00 a.m. service, this celebration invites people of all ages to bring their animal companions for a special blessing, commemorating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.

At Christ Church, this event provides an opportunity for pet owners to express gratitude for their animals’ unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship, while seeking spiritual enrichment and protection for their furry, feathered, and scaled friends.

During the service, clergy will offer blessings for animals, asking for health, happiness, and harmony for pets and their families. Whether you have a playful puppy, a dignified cat, a chatty parrot, a gentle rabbit, or any other cherished companion, all are welcome to participate.

The Blessing of the Animals service is a celebration of the connections that exist between people and animals. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to mingle and share stories about their pets. The atmosphere is one of joy, laughter, and unity, as pets meet new friends and families enjoy a morning of fellowship.

Following the blessing, light refreshments will be served in the parish hall, allowing guests to continue conversations and connect with local organizations dedicated to animal welfare. Representatives from Ansonia Animal Control will be present to offer information about responsible pet ownership, adoption, and care.

Whether you seek healing for a sick pet, protection for an adventurous animal, or simply wish to give thanks for the joy your pet brings, this service offers a meaningful way to acknowledge and celebrate those bonds.

Visitors are encouraged to bring pets on leashes, in carriers, or otherwise safely secured.

If your animal is too shy or unable to attend, you may bring a photograph to receive a blessing on their behalf. All faiths and backgrounds are welcome—this is a community event dedicated to love and respect for all creatures.
