ANSONIA: Evelyn A. (Lewis) Amico, age 96, entered eternal rest on June 12, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the loving and beloved wife of seventy-three years to the late Nicholas Amico Sr.
Born in Seymour on February 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anne (Zennis) Lewis. Evelyn was raised in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School. She later moved to Ansonia where she resided for the past seventy-two years. Evelyn built a diverse career working for various companies.
She was employed as a realtor for the former Jupin Realty, a journalist for the New Haven Register, worked alongside her late husband at the former Olympic Athletic Supply in Ansonia and retired as the head teller from the former Connecticut Bank and Trust in Ansonia. Evelyn was an avid golfer and enjoyed being a member of the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange and the Orange Hills Country Club where she served as treasurer for the Women’s Association.
She also loved to bowl and participated in many leagues and tournaments across the country. Evelyn served on the board at the Ansonia Housing Authority and she was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Derby. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia where she was a member of the Rosary Guild, played in the women’s bocce league, and volunteered her time at the annual Italian Festa.
Evelyn loved spending time with her family and friends at her summer home in Milford, CT and winter home in Naples, FL. Above all else, Evelyn cherished her family and friendships. She had a remarkable gift for making every occasion special and creating lasting memories for those she loved. Whether hosting holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, or simple gatherings with family and friends, she brought elegance, warmth, generosity, and joy to every celebration.
Alongside her beloved husband, Nicholas, she built a life centered around love, hospitality, and tradition. Her home was always open, her advice was always sincere, and her presence made everyone around her feel important and deeply loved. She will be remembered not only for the many roles she held throughout her life, but for the extraordinary way she made others feel. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Richard J. Amico of Orange and Nicholas Amico Jr. of Ansonia, granddaughter, Nicole Fiorelli (Alex) of Oxford, grandson Michael Geanacopoulos (Gabriella) of Henderson, NV, nieces, Mariann Ryan (Ronald), Michele Fraher (Jim Klenota) and Barbara Angelucci along with great-grandchildren, Ariana and Dominic Fiorelli. She was predeceased by her son Joseph P. “Jay” Amico, brother, Charles Lewis, daughter-in-law, Linda Amico, nephew, Charles Lewis and niece, Sandra DellaVolpe.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62, Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Friday morning, all are invited to attend her funeral by meeting directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church (Our lady of the Valley Parish) in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in the family plot in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
