Carly Rayne Gerry, age 12, of Ansonia, died June 17, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Derby on December 26, 2013, she was the cherished daughter of Kimberly Ann Cichowicz Barsoumian and her husband Kenneth of Ansonia and Jeffrey Gerry of Seymour.
Carly was raised in Ansonia, a graduate of Prendergast Elementary School and was a recent 7th Grade Graduate of Ansonia Middle School.
Carly Rayne was a beautiful girl who filled every room with her vibrant spirit. She had many wonderful and supportive friends and her love for the color pink was legendary! She was never seen without it and loved coloring her hair in all shades of pink.
She was incredibly artistic, creative, and smart, with her whole future ahead of her. She was an excellent student, attended Religious Education, made her Sacraments at Holy Rosary Church of Ansonia, and possessed a heart and soul that touched everyone she met. Carly loved music, skateboarding, Pringles, and Zebra Cakes. She was a complete goofball, who’s gentle heart brought laughter and kindness to all fortunate enough to have known her. Carly had a special way of tagging everyone with their own personal nickname; her stepdad, Ken, was lovingly called “Jenna”!
One of the most beautiful parts of Carly’s life was the bond she shared with her older sister, Alexia S. Gerry of Ansonia. They were not just siblings, but best friends who grew up side by side, supporting and loving each other through every moment. The connection between Carly and Alexia was unbreakable.
Carly was also blessed with a truly special friendship with her best friend, Ziah Moffitt of Ansonia. The two of them were inseparable, sharing laughter, adventures, and countless memories. Ziah stood by Carly’s side and brought so much joy into her life. Their friendship was a gift.
In addition to her parents, sister and best friend, Carly Rayne is survived by her maternal grandmother, Virginia Shimko Cichowicz of Ansonia; her paternal grandmother, Kimberly Gerry-Tucker Phaneuf and her husband, Alphonse of Seymour; and her paternal great grandfather, Joseph Gerry of Vermont; uncles, David Cichowicz and his wife, Shannon Kopp of Naugatuck, Silas Gonzalez of KY, Jeremy Tucker of Seymour; cousins, Jaden and Winry Tucker of Seymour; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Carly Rayne was anticipating the birth of her baby sibling due on January 1, 2027, coincidentally sharing her own original due date. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Duane M. Cichowicz and paternal grandfather, Howard Tucker.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Meeting Directly at Church, will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Holy Rosary Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia.
A reception will take place in the church hall following Mass. Interment will be private.
