Edwin Joseph O’Doy, age 84, beloved husband of Alice Mudry O’Doy of Derby, died peacefully on April 4, 2026, at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the son of the late William Karl and Ann Smierciak Odoy. Edwin “Ed” graduated from Ansonia High School in 1958. He earned a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut. Ed served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1965 to 1969. He started his professional career as an engineer at Machlett Laboratories in Stamford, followed by a position as Quality Control Manager at Remington Products in Bridgeport. He continued his career as a Division Manager for the former Echlin Inc. in Branford, until the time of his retirement in 1998. A practicing Catholic, Ed served as a Eucharistic Minister at his lifelong Parish of St. Jude Church in Derby. He served on their Finance Board and received the St. Joseph Medal Award for Service. He was also a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Ansonia with his wife Alice. Ed was an avid and accomplished golfer and a Member and Past President of Grassy Hill Men’s Association at Grassy Hill Country Club of Orange. He also volunteered as an AARP Foundation Tax Aide for 15 years after his retirement. Ed was a passionate UCONN Husky supporter and a lifelong fan of the NY Jets. Most of all, Ed loved spending time with his grandchildren and never missed a single game, school event or performance.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Alison Kral and her husband George of Orange and Audrey Douglas of Derby; a brother, William Odoy of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Georgia and Preston Kral of Orange, and Claire, Amelia and Arden Douglas of Derby; brothers-in-law, Paul “Babe” Mudry of Ansonia and John Mudry and his wife Eileen of Naugatuck; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Odoy and his wife, Mary and sister-in-law, Joanne Mudry. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Street, Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.
