TORRINGTON – A former Ansonia teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy received a fully suspended sentence, the Connecticut Post reported.
Vincent Wynne, 42, of Torrington, was sentenced to a 10-year suspended sentence and eight years of probation after pleading no contest to one charge of illegal sexual contact with a minor, according to the Post.
The suspended sentence means Wynne is not receiving jailtime. However, if he violates his probation, a judge could order him to serve the sentence in prison.
The Post reported that Wynne is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Wynne, who worked at Ansonia High School from 2013 to 2025, was accused last June of exchanging sexual messages with a 15-year-old from the Torrington area. According to an arrest warrant, he then met the teen in a parking lot in Torrington to engage in a sex act. He allegedly said he believed the teen was 17 years old, which is still considered a minor in Connecticut.
Ansonia police had received a report that Wynne may have been in possession of inappropriate photos and videos of students. During their investigation, they found Wynne’s messages with the 15-year-old and turned the investigation over to Torrington police.
Wynne allegedly told police in an interview that he performed oral sex on the victim, and that the victim had demanded money from him and threatened to go to police.
School officials notified Wynne of the investigation and placed him on administrative leave on March 20 last year. Wynne resigned about three weeks later, on April 11, 2025.
Wynne also worked in Shelton Public Schools and Bridgeport Public Schools between 2007 and 2013.
Ioannis Kaloidis, the attorney representing Wynne, reportedly told the Connecticut Post that his client had paid a significant price when he lost his job.
