OXFORD – As the High Holidays approach, Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford warmly invites the community to join in welcoming the Jewish New Year with uplifting prayer, the sounding of the shofar, and meaningful traditions.
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Friday, September 11, 2026, and continues through nightfall on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Services will be held on both Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 at the Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford. Following services on Sunday, September 13, participants are invited to stay for a festive community lunch.
In addition to synagogue services, Chabad will host a special community event, “Tashlich in the Park,” at Southford Falls State Park on the afternoon of Sunday, September 13. The program will feature the sounding of the shofar, the traditional Tashlich service, and holiday refreshments.
“Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment where everyone can experience the beauty and inspiration of the High Holidays,” said Rabbi Shmaya Hecht, director of Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford. “Whether you’ve participated before or are coming for the very first time, you’ll feel right at home.”
There are no fees or tickets needed to join, but RSVP is required. All are welcome, regardless of background, experience, or affiliation.
