Republican state Sen. George Logan of Ansonia is running for a second term. He represents the 17th state Senate District, which includes Ansonia, Derby, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Hamden, Naugatuck, and Woodbridge.

Logan is being challenged by Democrat Jorge Cabrera, a union organizer who lives in Hamden. Logan, by the way, is an executive with the Aquarion Water Co.

The race is one to watch because Logan scored an upset victory in 2016 over Democrat Joseph Crisco, a 12-term incumbent. Dems want the seat back, obviously.

Ballotpedia singled out the district as a battleground in the fight for control over the state legislature.

Last month the two debated about guns, the minimum wage, tolls, recreational marijuana, and how to jumpstart the economy.
