The National Weather Service in Albany, N.Y. has issued a flood warning for the Housatonic River at Stevenson Dam, from this afternoon (Friday, Dec. 21) until further notice.
At 8 a.m. Friday the stage was 10.1 feet.
Flood stage is 11 feet.
Minor flooding is predicted. *
The forecast:
The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by 12 p.m. Friday and continue to rise to near 13.6 feet by 1 p.m. Saturday.
Impact: At 15 feet, “moderate” flood stage with numerous homes in the Maples area of Shelton affected.
