Seymour’s Nicole Klarides-Ditria Announces Candidacy

STATE GOP PHOTOSeymour Republican Nicole Klarides-Ditria intends to run for Democrat Theresa Conroy’s seat in the state House of Representatives.

Conroy, also a Seymour resident, represents the 105th District, which includes Seymour, Beacon Falls and parts of Derby.

A flier for a Klarides-Ditria fundraising dinner scheduled in Derby Jan. 26 began making the rounds on social media Thursday.

Klarides-Ditria confirmed her intent to run on her Facebook page.

Friends —- for too long one-party rule in Hartford has led to runaway spending and job-killing tax increases,” she wrote Thursday. It is time for a change — that’s why I have decided to run for State Representative.”

Klarides-Ditria is scheduled to appear on Valley Navel Gazing,” this publication’s weekly talk show, on Monday, Jan. 11.

The show streams live on ValleyIndy.org and on 103.5 FM, a community radio station heard within New Haven city limits.

Klarides-Ditria is scheduled to call in about 9:05 a.m.

She is no stranger to politics. She is a member of the Seymour Board of Selectmen. She received the most votes of all Board of Selectmen candidates who ran in 2011, 2013 and 2015. 

Her sister is Themis Klarides, state House Republican leader.

A dinner to raise money for the two candidates is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Sons of Italy, 73 High St. in Derby.
