Suspects Lead Police On Chase Through Seymour, Ansonia

SEYMOUR PD

Keishawn Dancy and Dayquain Sinisterra.

Two teenagers from Waterbury suspected of breaking into cars in Seymour allegedly led police on a chase before being arrested in Ansonia Friday.

Seymour Deputy Police Chief Paul Satkowski released a prepared statement Monday saying Dayquain Sinisterra and Keishawn Dancy are charged with second-degree larceny, second-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, and interfering with police.

Both men are 19 years of age.

The charges stem from a report about 5 a.m. June 2, after a person on Manners Avenue called police to say a car had stopped in front of his neighbor’s driveway.

The caller reported he saw two males with hoodies walking in and out of the driveway, and it appeared they were going into parked cars,” Satkowski wrote.

Seymour Police Officer Kevin Miceli drove to the scene. The suspects’ vehicle sped toward his vehicle, nearly striking the police car head on, the deputy chief said.

The suspects drove down South Main Street toward Ansonia, and nearly struck a second police car being operated by Seymour Police Officer Samantha Salato.

Ansonia police joined in the pursuit.

The suspects took side streets to lose police, and eventually crashed at the intersection of Tremont Street and South Cliff Street.

The suspects — which included a third, unidentified person — ran from the crash scene.

Police set up a search and called in Seymour Police Officer John Oczkowski and his police dog, Zoar. Two of the three suspects were then captured.

Police allege the suspects’ car was stolen from Derby on May 31.

Police found wallets, purses, credit cards, GPS units, car keys and some marijuana in the stolen car.

The personal items are thought to have been stolen from other parked cars in the area.

Anyone missing personal items from his or her vehicle should call Seymour police at 203 881 7638.

Residents are reminded to lock their doors at all times since all of the vehicles entered by the perpetrators were not locked,” Satkowski said.
