Work To Start On Route 8 North Ramp In Ansonia-Derby

This project has been in the planning stages for years.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work will be starting for the reconstruction of the Interchange 18 Northbound On-Ramp on Route 8 in the Towns of Derby and Ansonia.

The project consists of the construction of a new Route 8 northbound on-ramp including the installation of a retaining wall, a noise barrier wall, safety improvements as well as drainage improvements being made on both Division Street and Westfield Avenue.

DOT Project No. 0036 – 0179 was awarded to Empire Paving, Inc., at a cost of $8,692,190.35 on 12/23/14 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2016.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Route 8 NB between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and between the hours of 6:00 p.m. on Friday through 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
On Division Street and Westfield Avenue, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

From April to November 2015, existing travel lanes on Route 8 NB, in the vicinity of Interchange 18, will be shifted and reduced to 11-foot widths, to accommodate the construction of the new on-ramp.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
