Ansonia Democratic Mayoral candidate Edward Adamowski kicked off his campaign for mayor last month at Molto Bene Italian American Kitchen on Wakelee Avenue.
“The fundraiser attracted a crowd of just under 100 supporters,” Adamowksi said.
The federal Internal Revenue Service has filed another tax lien against Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti.
The lien — filed by an IRS agent in City Hall Aug. 14 — says Cassetti owes the federal government $59,384.19 dating back to 2011, though the “date of assessment” listed on the document is July 6, 2015.
Fiscal responsibility has been a priority of the Cassetti administration since day one. That’s why reading the acceptance speech of the Mayor’s Democrat challenger took me by surprise. I momentarily thought I stumbled on a screenplay for some forgotten episode of “The Outer Limits.”
I was mistaken. It just happens that the Ansonia Democrat’s 2015 platform is pure, unadulterated science fiction.
The local political conventions in Ansonia took on the feel of a Red Sox-Yankees game July 23, with the Republicans and Democrats nominating candidates at the same time, in the same restaurant, in two adjacent rooms separated by a thin wall.
They hooted, they hollered, they banged on the wall at Molto Bene Italian American Kitchen in a rambunctious attempt to see which side could outcheer the other.
And both sides talked taxes, but with different spins — the Republicans vowed to keep lowering them, while the Democrats argued GOP fiscal policy is putting the city on the road to ruin.
