Ansonia’s Merlone: I Was Not Looking For A Fight

Ansonia School Superintendent Carol Merlone released a statement Thursday evening saying she still hopes to reach a compromise with city government ahead of date with a Superior Court judge next week.

On Monday, the day before our case is heard in Superior Court in Derby, there will be meetings between the school district and the city, presided by a judge, in an attempt to settle this issue,” Merlone said.

Letter Writer: Cassetti Administration Relies ‘On The Ignorance Of The Citizenry’

Dear Members of the Community,

It saddens me to witness misguided vitriol being directed at an institution that has always held my interests and the interests of thousands of other students in the highest regard. 

I seek to reciprocate by educating the community as it did with me and others through leveraging the abilities I attained while I was a student at Georgetown and a professional at different multinational corporations.

Merlone: Ansonia Students Will Finish School Year

Hundreds of people attended a meeting at Ansonia High School June 5 regarding school funding.

Ansonia Schools Superintendent Carol Merlone sent a letter to parents Wednesday saying students will be finishing their school year as planned” and that seniors will graduate from the high school June 18.

Merlone said she planned to meet with Ansonia High School seniors Thursday.

Letter: Give Schools Funding They Deserve

In the wake of the recent events going on with the City of Ansonia and the Board of Education, there seems to be even more misinformation being spread, most notably from the Board of Apportionment and Taxation, along with the help of some Aldermen.

The newest target of scrutiny from BOAT seems to be the lack of a full budget” from the Board of Education. They boast about how the City budget is over 1000 pages,” and that the Board of Education is lacking transparency.” But is it really?
