Mayor David S. Cassetti was sworn in for a second term Monday at Ansonia High School.
“Two years ago I stood before you and pledged that Ansonia’s greatest moments are yet to come,” Cassetti said. “Today, we are living through one of the most transformational periods in our city’s history. Hand-in-hand, we are building a solid foundation for our future. We have put aside petty politics to move our city forward on a new course. There is a sense that Ansonia’s best days are within our grasp.”

Stink bugs and municipal elections go together like … OK they don’t go together at all, but that didn’t stop Eugene Driscoll from pairing them Nov. 2 on “Valley Navel Gazing.”
Click the play button below to listen!
Topics included the (not so) great Connecticut stink bug invasion, with an interview with Mary Conklin of the University of Connecticut.
Then Driscoll opened the phone line to get a pulse of the public in advance of the Nov. 3 election.
Chris Bailey of Shelton called in, along with Lorie Vacarro and Ken Plavnicky of Ansonia.
Oh, and Driscoll nervously crowbarred in references to “Bone Tomahawk,” “Gamera,” “Aliens,” “Ted,” and “Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau.”

As a business owner on my ninth year in downtown Ansonia, I have a renewed excitement in the future of our city.
The Cassetti administration has an unyielding focus on economic development. There is much promise with the ATP & Palmer buildings as a local developer will propose 90+ apartments and a microbrewery. The Mayor and his team personally went to Washington to secure the funds to complete the road for the Fountain Lake development. Farrell continues to call Ansonia home due to the Casssetti team.

As a resident of Ansonia I need to say “THANK YOU” to Mayor Dave Cassetti and his team for what they are doing for this city. Never in my life have I seen this much positive energy coming out of Ansonia City Hall.
Two years of tax reductions. Plans to rebuild Wakelee Avenue and redevelop downtown. Keeping Farrel Corporation in Ansonia. Cleaner neighborhoods. And wonderful communication with residents!
Mayor Cassetti, I am impressed.

There will be a contested mayor’s race in Ansonia this year.
Democratic Alderman Edward Adamowski filed paperwork Tuesday (July 7) seeking his party’s nomination to challenge Republican Mayor David Cassetti, who took office in December 2013 after defeating seven-term incumbent James Della Volpe by 700 votes.

Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti said Monday (Jan. 12) that he loves his job — so this November he’ll be asking voters to keep him in it for another two years.
Lauding steps he’s taken during his first 13 months in office to grow businesses while cutting taxes and blight, Cassetti said he still has plenty of work to do.
“The fresh start we worked so hard for has only begun,” Cassetti said on the steps of City Hall to about a dozen supporters.
