Joseph Calabrese, an architect who is administrative assistant to First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers, said Wednesday he intends to run for First Selectman.
Calabrese said a formal announcement of his candidacy will take place June 26. The time and place will be announced before that date.

Oxford Democrats have a candidate in mind for First Selectman, but they’re not quite ready to say who it is.
Carol Georgette, chairwoman of the town’s Democratic Committee, issued a press release Tuesday morning saying her party has a candidate.
They plan to unveil the candidate next weekend, Georgette’s message indicates.

George R. Temple, the former town counsel who was one of the first in town to say he wants to run for first selectman this year, made it official Sunday with a speech before about 100 supporters gathered at the Brookside Inn.

What does First Selectwoman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers’ decision not to seek re-election do to the political landscape in Oxford?
Well, for starters, at least two Republicans have told the Valley Indy they’re interested in replacing the two-term Democratic incumbent.
Both George Temple, Oxford’s former town counsel, and Thomas Kelly, a member of the Board if Finance and veteran politico, told the Valley Indy they want to run.
Earlier this year former First Selectman August Palmer III, also a Republican, said he’s thinking about running — but he didn’t return calls for this story.
