Miller: No Flashy Promises, Just Concentrate On The Basics

Some people are born political. Take Kurt Miller, the 41-year-old lifelong Seymour resident who is running as a Republican for First Selectman.

I forget what age I was, but I remember seeing a bunch of political signs on lawns, and I always wondered what it would take to be a person with their name on a sign,” Miller said.

By the age of 16 or 17, he was active in Seymour High School’s student council. And, believe it or not — Miller dreamed of being First Selectman one day.

That day may be close.

Jeanne Loda Offers Another Option In Seymour

Jeanne Loda was going rogue long before Sarah Palin made the term popular. 

She went up against the town’s Ambulance Association in 2004, and was even a vocal critic of the way the Katharine Matthies Foundation distributed grants.

So when Loda wasn’t nominated by the Democrats to run for re-election on the Board of Education this year, it wasn’t a total surprise when she set off on her own and launched a campaign for the town’s top office. 

Loda, 70, is Democrat running for First Selectman as a petitioning candidate.

School Parent’s Perspective Needed On Seymour Board Of Education

A Board of Education should be composed of members who bring varied perspectives to their task of analyzing situations, interpreting data and legal mandates, and applying common sense and logic in formulating decisions and crafting school district policy. 

Soon, one important perspective will be missing from the school board – that of a parent with a child being educated in the Seymour schools.

Loda Outlines Concrete Steps She’ll Take If Elected Seymour First Selectman

Seymour voters should consider electing a candidate for First Selectman this November who has the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.

Some of our officials appear to be reactionaries rather than visionaries and often address people’s problems by ignoring them. Too often, the concerns of our residents are neglected because the administration is inexperienced.
