Seymour Republicans endorsed two-term incumbent W. Kurt Miller as their candidate for First Selectman Thursday during a nominating caucus attended by about 35 people.

Derby Democrat Anita Dugatto, a downtown dentist, defeated four-term incumbent Republican Mayor Anthony Staffieri by more than 400 votes.

The two candidates vying to represent the 105th district — which covers Seymour, Beacon Falls and part of Ansonia — both come from families with deep political roots in the Valley.
The two political dynasties are now overlapped in a single race.
