'A Christmas Carol,' With One Actor, To Be Performed In Derby

DERBY — The Derby Public Library presents a live one-man performance of A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, adapted and performed by Patrick R. Spadaccino and directed by Scott R. Brill in the Upstairs Meeting Room at DPL on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 12:00 noon.

Both performer, Patrick Spadaccino and director, Scott Brill, have been drawn to the story of A Christmas Carol since they were children. At a recent rehearsal, Patrick reflected on the timeless themes of A Christmas Carol, Being helpful and kind to those around us while making the most of every chance to do good are concepts that are just as relevant today as they were when A Christmas Carol was written in the 1840s.”

Talking about why A Christmas Carol is so meaningful, not just to him but for so many, he continued, Life is and always has been uncertain. In facing that uncertainty, the hope, humility, and gratitude expressed by Bob Cratchit’s character and the redemptive journey of Scrooge’s character, not to mention having memorable ghosts, helps the story resonate with so many people year after year.”
