The Boys & Girls Club got a $450 bump in funding Monday from altruistically-minded employees of an Ansonia company.
About 50 employees from Coordinated Transportation Solutions, based on Main Street, have been raising funds for several months by buying healthy snack baskets and holding dress-down events, with a view to donating the money raised to a local nonprofit.
“The employees get something from it and then the community gets something from it,” said Karen Zofcak, training manager at the company.
Zofcak said the money was tallied up this month and employees held a vote to determine which nonprofit the donation should be made to.
It’s the second year the company, which coordinates non-emergency transportation for Medicaid patients, has held an employee fundraiser to benefit a local organization.
Last year CTS made a donation to the Ansonia Animal Shelter.
On Monday the company’s president, Dave White, and Zofcak presented a check to Shaye Roscoe, the Boys & Girls Club’s executive director, and Mike Cotela, unit director, and Jim Queen, the club’s director of operations.
“It’s phenomenal,” Roscoe told CTS officials. “Thank you for selecting us.”
