Ansonia Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charges

ANSONIAAn Ansonia man was arrested on child pornography charges on Wednesday (Oct. 9).

Michael Bernaud, 27, turned himself in to Ansonia police after a warrant was put out for his arrest, according to a press release. He is charged with possession of child pornography, two counts of enticing a minor by computer, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

He is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Bernaud was also arrested by state police in April for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a minor. According to the state police warrant, Bernaud had sent vulgar messages to a 13-year-old boy and asked for lewd images in exchange for money.

Ansonia Police Lieutenant Patrick Lynch said that this arrest stems from a separate investigation, but that it involves the same type of activity.”

The Ansonia investigation was led by Detective Mark Clifford. The press release thanks Monroe Police Departments, Police Scotland, Collin County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, Muscatine Police Department in Iowa, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina, and the Vermont State Police.

Bernaud is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Derby today.

In the state police case, Bernaud is next scheduled to appear in Waterbury on Oct. 15.
