Ansonia police arrested an Ansonia man Monday, after he allegedly took out a shotgun and paced in front of his North State Street home to “deter the erratic drivers” on the street.
Anthony Sporko, 41, of North State Street, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and reckless endangerment.
Ansonia police were called to North State Street at about 1:05 p.m. Monday, on a report of a man walking in the area with a shotgun, yelling at cars in the road.
Several police officers responded — weapons out of their holsters — and searched the block. Click here to read an earlier article about the response.
No one was out on the street, but a man matching the suspect’s description emerged from a multi-family house next to the Nolan Manor condos.
That man was Sporko, police said Tuesday in a statement released by Lt. Andrew Cota.
Sporko was “angry over the way people were driving in the neighborhood,” the statement said.
Police found a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun in his home, according to the statement.
He was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Superior Court in Derby today (Oct. 11).
No one was injured in the incident.
