Ansonia WPCA Cuts Rates

On July 1 the Ansonia Water Pollution Control Authority voted unanimously to reduce the sewer use rate by 5.35 percent.

The fee reduction was primarily attributable to an approximately $95,000 decrease in the WPCAs operational budget, according to a prepared statement from Mayor David Cassetti.

The approved rate for the sewer use fee is $2.65 per 100 cubic feet of water plus a $50 capital fee, down from $2.80.

The approved flat rate for well users is $224 plus a $50 capital fee, down from $237.

Bills are collected in two installments due Sept. 1, 2015 and March 2, 2016, payable, respectively, before Oct. 1, 2015 and April 1, 2016 before which interest will accrue at 1.5 percent per month.

Payments may be made at the WPCA in the lower level of City Hall, 253 Main St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Fridays.

I would like to applaud the WPCA and Chairman Nunzio Parente for success in lowering fees for our residents,” Cassetti’s statement said. I firmly believe that tax and fee reduction is absolutely essential to growing our business base and moving Ansonia forward.”
