Tuesday is shaping up to be a busy news day in the lower Valley.
To steal a page from TV news, “here are the stories we’re working on.”
There will, however, be no film at 11.
JOE TOURS GRIFFIN
Yesterday U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman toured a police firing range in New Haven (see video). Today he will be touring Griffin Hospital in Derby starting at 10 a.m., according to hospital officials.
Griffin uses the “Planetree“ model of care, apparently of interest to Lieberman.
The hospital is also renovating its emergency department, thanks, in part, to $285,000 in federal funding.
SHELTON FINCH FIGHTERS
The gaggle of guys accused of operating a finch-fighting ring are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby at 10 a.m.
The men are applying for accelerated rehab, a special form of probation, according to the CT Post.
The 150 finches, meanwhile, which were being kept in an undisclosed location, are heading to a zoo, the Register reported.
DERBY REDEVELOPMENT?
“Redevelopment meeting this week … stay tuned for some pretty exciting news,” reads the “Staffieri for Mayor“ Facebook page.
What’s the news?
Apparently the city’s Redevelopment Agency will receive a more detailed plan regarding a new idea for the properties between the Housatonic River and Main Street in downtown Derby.
Will it live up to the Facebook hype?
Find out at 6:30 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chambers in City Hall.
SHELTON CITIZENS UNITED
The Democrats and the Republicans nominated their candidates, now it’s Citizens United’s turn.
The city’s third party is scheduled to make nominations at 7 p.m. in the Shelton Community Center.
