Blasting To Temporarily Close Route 8 In Seymour Thursday

To All,

Haynes Construction anticipates conducting a sizable blast at their quarry at 600 Derby Ave. this Thursday June 21, 2012 at about 1 p.m.

This involves the temporary closing of Route 8, both sides, for maybe several minutes.

This is being done as a pro-active step in case fly rock lands on Route 8.

This action will involve the State Police, State DOT, Seymour Police Department, Seymour Fire Marshal’s Office, Haynes Construction Company and Blastech Drilling and Blasting Company. Haynes will be notifying the immediate neighbors surrounding the quarry by e‑mail and phone over the next 24 to 48 hours.

We are taking pro-active steps to do our best to ensure the safety of the general public and property.

The State’s Blasting Regulations are being strictly enforced by my Office.

Seismic monitoring devices will be used as they always have been in the past.

Haynes anticipates this type of blasting to occur at their quarry periodically.
