OXFORD — A 21-year-old man died while swimming in a reservoir in Oxford Thursday, according to a press release from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
The press release stopped short of saying “drowning,” but noted that a swimmer went under water and did not resurface at “Seymour Reservoir #2.”
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The press release noted the reservoir is “not a designated swimming area.”
The man’s identity was not released.
DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police, Oxford police, the Oxford Fire Department, and a dive team all responded to the scene Thursday afternoon.
