Bomba: O’Sully’s Island Closure Was About ‘Keeping Buddies Busy’

Maybe I am confused, maybe not.

I have been going to O’Sullivan Island for over 30 years. I enjoyed walks the river views and fishing. The community and I were the benefactors of all the improvements from the Riverwalk to the cleanup of the historic fire training sitr.

Why then did the Aldermen go out of their way to close the Island from public access?

There was nothing new here. All I see is that it is closed.

The Valley Council of Governments got some money, did some studies, and found that it was safe for public use. Well then why close it?

Didn’t the City in the past say that it was safe?

Why did the Aldermen approve the funding for yet another study by the VCOG? Was it to get more money for cleanup?

I know why. The Aldermatic President is good buddies with Mr. Dunne from the VCOG.

Come on Aldermen, leave the Island open. Don’t throw the community into the mix when it comes to funding studies and cleanup to keep old buddies busy.
